2025 Scholarship
Our 2025 scholarship is now open. The board agreed to fund up to $1,500 in scholarship funding for the 2025 school year. Applications are due January 31st and should be emailed to jennifer.mdag@gmail.com.
Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a resident of or attending a college or university in the Mid-Atlantic Region – Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia, or West Virginia.
- Applicant must be working towards an undergraduate degree in plant or soil sciences, agronomy, or an agriculture-related field.
- Applicant is only eligible to receive the scholarship two times.
2024 Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to Reagan Riggs for being selected as the recipient of the 2024 Mid-Atlantic Certified Crop Adviser Scholarship! Reagan currently works on her father’s grain farm, helping in the field as a scout and handling the bookwork. Reagan is attending Virginia Tech pursuing a bachelor’s degree in crop and soil science. After graduation, Reagan plans to become an agronomist and obtain her CCA certification.
2023 Scholarship Recipients
The MACCA Board supported two students with $1,000 scholarships and the opportunity to take the CCA Exam free of cost. A gradate student was also awarded the opportunity to take the CCA Exam free of cost.

Reagan Riggs of Church Hill, Maryland is a 2023 graduate from Queen Anne’s County High School. This fall Reagan plans to attend a four year University where she will pursue a bachelor’s degree in plant and soil sciences, focusing on agronomy. After graduation Reagan plans to return to the Eastern Shore of Maryland and work for a fertilizer or seed company. Currently Reagan works at Nutrien Ag Solutions in Centreville, MD as a crop scout and with her father, helping keep their farming and trucking business organized.

Mariah Evans is a 2022 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in St. Mary’s West Virginia. Mariah is currently attending West Virginia University at Parkersburg majoring in Business Administration. Mariah is currently raising and showing feeder calves and growing her own vegetable crops in addition to working at Riverhawk Farms, a potato operation. After graduation Mariah plans to pursue a career related to agriculture business and finance.

Meg Smolinski of Takoma Park, Maryland is pursuing her masters degree in Extension Education at the University of Maryland. Meg received a two-year certificate from the University of Maryland’s Institute of Applied Agriculture in 2017. Currently Meg works at the University of Maryland Arboretum and Botanical Gardens as an outreach coordinator, and gardens prolifically at home.

2022 Scholarship Recipients
The MACCA Board supported two students with $1,000 scholarships to pursue studies in Plant Science with the goal of becoming certified crop advisers. The scholarship also offers the opportunity to take the CCA Exam free of cost. Congratulations to Maci Carter and Bethany Knutsen from Harrington, Delaware!

Maci is currently attending the Unviersity of Delaware working towards a double major in Agriculture and Natural Resources and Plant Science. Maci has a strong background in 4-H and FFA, being a past Delaware State FFA Officer and National Convention Delegate. Growing up, Maci worked at her grandparent’s produce stand where she was later promoted to Assistant Manager. This summer Maci will be completing an internship with Willard Agri-Services and plans to pursue a career in Plant and Soil Science after graduation.

Bethany is a Senior at Woodbridge High School in Delaware. She was raised on her family’s dairy farm where she developed and ran several day camps for kids to learn about where their food comes from. She has been an active member of 4-H, FFA, and held the title of Delaware Dairy Princess. After graduation in June of 2022, Bethany plans to attend the University of Delaware majoring in Plant Science with the goal of becoming an Agronomist.
